Dancing On Ice fans fume as they accuse Vanessa Bauer of receiving ‘favouritism’ after she and Miles Nazaire impress judges with skate

Dancing On Ice fans were left fuming during Sunday’s episode of the show as they accused professional skater Vanessa Bauer of receiving favouritism.

The figure skater (27) is working with Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire (28) this year.

TV personality Miles has overtaken Olympian Greg Rutherford in the Dancing On Ice rankings after scoring 29 at the weekend, the new highest score of the series.

He danced an elegant routine with Vanessa Bauer to the song A Thousand Years from the film Twilight Saga, performing with a rotating circle movement and a lasso up to the back light.

But Vanessa and Miles’ efforts failed to impress some viewers as they took to social media to claim she is always with talented celebrity partners.

Judge Oti Mabuse said she liked the intimacy and storytelling of Vanessa and Miles’ routine, adding: ‘I loved it, you can be proud of that performance.’

Ashley Banjo also praised it as ‘so graceful and so controlled’ as he revealed he felt Nazaire had a lot of potential in the competition.

Ashley and Oti awarded Vanessa and Miles seven points each while co-judge Jayne Torvill and head judge Christopher Dean each gave them 7.5.

Vanessa and her celebrity partner Jake Quickenden won Dancing On Ice in 2018 and she was runner-up with Joey Essex last year.

In 2022, she was also in the final with Brendan Cole, but the two did not win the show.

One person wrote on Twitter: ‘Oh what a surprise!! Vanessa is partnered with someone who can skate, and has a lot of skating ability and confidence. Will there ever be a series where she’s partnered with someone who’s actually struggling?! Favorite strikes again!’

While someone else shared: ‘Obviously Vanessa is getting a good partner for what the 7th time.’

Another viewer posted: ‘Why are they all pretending to be shocked that Vanessa got the highest score of the series? Like it doesn’t happen every year.’

While someone else commented: ‘Obviously Miles gets the highest score of the series because his partner is Vanessa.’

“Vanessa has a partner who is at the top of the charts…shocking,” another show fan said.

Another audience member at home wrote: ‘Vanessa gets a good skater every year!!! That’s praise!!’

While someone else asked: ‘Why does Vanessa always get the best dancers?’

Someone else posted: ‘I’m so done with Vanessa to be honest…… just give her another final why not.’

Someone else took a slightly more positive view, writing: ‘I absolutely love Vanessa but I would love to see her with someone struggling to see how they would progress through the competition.’

While another viewer shared: ‘Looking through the hashtag and such negativity towards Miles and Vanessa. I would also have him ranked higher than Eddie because of Eddie’s little obstacle. And what’s the deal with Vanessa having romantic chemistry with her peers? I don’t see the issue at all.’

Hannah Spearritt left Dancing On Ice on Sunday.

The former S Club 7 singer and her professional partner Andy Buchanan found themselves in the bottom two alongside Claire Sweeney and Colin Grafton.

With no skate-off for this week only, the 42-year-old star was automatically eliminated after receiving the lowest score when the judges’ scores were combined with the public vote.

With hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern commiserating with Hannah and Andy, the former Primeval actress said: ‘It’s sad to see someone go.’

This weekend the contestants dressed up for movie week and Hannah admitted she was glad she danced as Elsa from Frozen to the song Let It Go for her final performance as her two daughters were in the audience.

As the camera cut to her family, she said: ‘It was nice to finish on Elsa.

‘I enjoyed it, everyone was fantastic and being with Andy was a joy, thanks for the trip.’

When she signed up for the program, Hannah explained she was eager to push herself out of her comfort zone and improve her fitness.

She said: ‘I’m really excited about learning a new skill.

‘It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very attractive.
