Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang and wife Andraia Allsop attend 2024 MusiCares gala in first sighting since David Lee Roth’s expletive-filled rant against him

Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang and his wife Andraia Allsop stole the spotlight at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles on Friday.

The 32-year-old musician looked every inch the rock star in his black jacket and matching ripped denim as he hit the red carpet at the official GRAMMY Week event taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

With his arm around Andraia – who he married in October 2023 – the bassist kept a low profile in a set of purple-tinted aviators.

Andraia, meanwhile, stunned in a black off-the-shoulder dress with a thigh-high slit as Wolfgang planted a smooch on her.

The outing is the first sighting of Wolfgang since Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth launched a profanity-filled rant against him on his podcast, ‘The Roth Show’ on YouTube.

In a clip from his show posted on his Instagram page, the 69-year-old singer is heard going on a tirade of abuse against Wolfgang, calling him ‘this f****** kid’ as well as a ‘schlemiel ‘ named. (fool in Yiddish) repeatedly.

Wolfgang played bass in Van Halen from 2007 to 2015 after replacing original bassist Michael Anthony. The 32-year-old singer is currently releasing music with his band, Mammoth WVH.

The clip opens with a spoof of David interviewing Jesus Christ and implying that his bandmate’s son benefited from nepotism.

He also claims that Wolfgang spent time complaining that he didn’t pay attention to him while they were touring together.

The singer said: ‘This fucking kid! He complains the whole tour like I don’t pay enough attention to him on stage.

“I give him the best, everything I’ve got, in front of 20-30,000 people at a track, and he complains to everyone around me – the business manager, the security guy, the dressmaker – ‘Dave doesn’t pay enough attention to me”. ‘

He then went on to say that he had invited ‘two ladies’ to one of the band’s shows in New York, but they were ‘tight for tickets’ and allegedly kicked out by Wolfgang.

‘This f—ing kid, what he doesn’t know is that these two ladies work for the accounting firm that represents him, not me.

‘But as usual, just like his uncle and his uncle’s brother, he bumped them for tickets.

‘He’s teaching me a lesson. What doesn’t this fucking kid know? They carry the salaries for all 82 people on the road staff.’

David went on to say that a similar incident happened at their concert in Los Angeles, which was notably also his last performance with Eddie.

“We’re at the Hollywood Bowl, I’m about to start ‘Ice Cream Man,’ and this f****** kid. He commands two muscle monkeys, finds the one lady who is my guest. She is in the wings of the Hollywood Bowl.

“They find her, make her walk of shame past all the other guests and out into the parking lot and throw her out of the building.”

‘Wolfie Van Halen is going to teach me a lesson by throwing out what he thinks is my girlfriend. But guess what? Not only is it an accountant again, and not only does she carry the paychecks for 82 of us on the road crew, but she carries cash bonuses for everyone there.’

He noted that the woman was the same ‘lady’ who had been thrown out in New York.

But fans of the legendary band slammed David’s comments, calling them in ‘bad taste’ and calling him ‘sour grapes’.

One user wrote: ‘I’m a huge VH and Dave fan but this is in bad taste dude! “The Kid” didn’t throw you under the bus and I’m sure that would be very easy to do… Stay classy Dave.

While another user wrote: ‘If it wasn’t for Wolfgang DLR wouldn’t have had the last few tours with VH and if it wasn’t for EVH we wouldn’t even know who DLR is. ‘

One user also noted the Van Halen family’s contribution to music, saying: ‘Reality is Wolfie is a third generation professional musician. Performed all the instruments on the album as well as all the vocals. His stripes deserve to support a full concert tour when most kids were playing Xbox and trying to pass French class. The Van Halens always let the music do the talking…..’

Another user commented on Wolfgang’s success: ‘Last I heard he’s the one touring stadiums and headlining his own tours. He is the one who is also responsible for giving you a second wind. Straighten up. You are sour grapes, and you will never be as important as his father was. Clown.’

In a 2021 Billboard interview, Wolfgang addressed the criticism and nepotism allegations people have made against him.

‘With the name or just having the parents that I have, people assume that I’m an unmotivated person who’s just comfortable doing nothing and with what my name involved what happened before. And I’m anything but that.’
