Gen Z Aussies shock as they share their thoughts about conscription on The Kyle and Jackie O Show: ‘I already have my Taylor Swift tickets’

The possible introduction of a ‘citizen army’ to protect Australia in wartime was the hot topic The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday.

And it seems Gen Z Aussies aren’t too keen on the idea of being called up to fight if conscription were ever to be introduced.

KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were left stunned as they listened to young callers who said they would much rather party than fight for their country.

One male caller said he would “absolutely” refuse to go if war broke out, mostly because his social calendar wouldn’t allow it.

“My calendar is literally booked up,” the caller said.

‘I’ve got new seasons of Ru Paul’s Drag Race coming up, I’ve got Mardi Gras coming up, I’ve spent an absolute fortune! Look, Taylor Swift is coming on,” he continued.

“Yeah, two words, Kyle & Jackie O. Nervous shit,” adds another caller.

Meanwhile, caller Stacey said she would ‘absolutely not’ go if called up and objected to the long hours military service required of recruits.

“Look, I’m not a morning person and if I have to get up this early and don’t have time to do my hair and makeup and nails for all the cute soldiers there, there’s no way in . hell what’s happening,” she said.

Conscription would impact those aged 18-40 and would likely involve military service for a minimum of two years.

Jackie shocked Kyle when she announced that she would be willing to fight if Australia was invaded.

The Australian government used conscripts to fight in World War II (1939-1945), and in the Vietnam War (1964-1975.).

Conscription was abolished in 1972 by the Whitlam government.
