King Charles III cancer diagnosis LIVE: Monarch returns to London for immediate treatment with Prince Harry set to fly back to the UK ‘within days’ after King personally contacted Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales to inform them of his condition

Cancer charities are responding to Charles’ diagnosis

Maggie’s Cancer Support, of which Camilla has been president since 2008, said it was ‘very sorry’ to hear of the Charles’ diagnosis.

Chief executive Dame Laura Lee said: ‘We are incredibly sorry to hear the King’s news and our thoughts are with him.

‘We also know what a challenging and worrying time a cancer diagnosis can be for the whole family and our thoughts are very much with our President, Her Majesty The Queen.

‘We have centers across the country for anyone living with cancer or affected by this announcement.’

Macmillan Cancer Support also posted a message on X sending best wishes to Charles and the Royal Family.

Diagnosis ‘will bring reconciliation’ with Harry

Jennie Bond earlier told Sky News that she hoped King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis would “bring about a reconciliation” with Prince Harry.

Harry’s estranged brother William is also in close contact with his father, but neither brother has yet made a public statement.

Harry’s return ‘indicates the seriousness’ of the diagnosis

Talk TV’s royal editor Sarah Hewson says Prince Harry’s return to the UK ‘indicates the seriousness’ of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

“I’m sure that since his father first went to the hospital, and since it was first announced that his father was going to the hospital for the prostate treatment, and that his sister-in-law was in the hospital, I’m sure that prince Harry had never felt further.’

Cancer diagnosis weeks after leaving the hospital

The announcement of the cancer diagnosis comes just a week after Charles appeared cheerful as he waved to the crowd as he was released from The London Clinic after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Messages poured in to wish Charles well

X, formerly Twitter, has been inundated with wishes from the likes of former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, as well as Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer.

‘Terrible shock for Queen Camilla’

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond spoke to Sky News about the king’s cancer battle.

She said it would have come as a ‘terrible shock’ to Queen Camilla.

A terrible shock for him and I think an even bigger shock for Camilla. I do feel for Camilla because he is her rock and vice versa and all the time he spent in the hospital when she was there never showed five minutes how much they love each other and feel a little lost without each other.

Sarah Vine of The Mail sent her best wishes to the King, saying ‘it comes as an unwelcome shock not only to the nation, still very much in mourning after the death of his mother, but also to the Royal family self’.
