LeBron James shared a brief moment with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
After leading the Los Angeles Lakers to snap the New York Knicks’ nine-game winning streak, James was caught talking to Hamlin on his way back to the locker room.
The meeting took place six months after Hamlin expressed his support for James’ family when his son, Bronny, suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session with the USC Trojans. In January 2023, Hamlin also suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both have since recovered and returned to their respective sports.
“How is Bronnie brother?” Hamlin asked James after they shared a handshake and a hug.
“Big man, big man, appreciate it,” James replied as they made quick conversation.

James reached out to Hamlin’s family when the Bills safety went into cardiac arrest in 2023
After his scary collapse against the Bengals, Hamlin decided to continue playing after making a full recovery. When Bronny went into cardiac arrest in July, Hamlin mentioned how he wanted to support the USC freshman as the James family supported him through his recovery.
“Honestly, a really big memory,” Hamlin said in August. ‘It put everything back into perspective for me. But prayers to (James) and prayers to his family.’
‘They have been very great and supportive in reaching out to my family as well. So, I just want to be able to extend that to them,” Hamlin added. “And I wanted to let him know I’ll be there for whatever he needs on his journey as far as his recovery and getting back to his sport if that’s what he chooses to do.”

James led the Lakers to a 113-105 victory to snap the New York Knicks’ nine-game winning streak
With the Bills’ season over, Hamlin made it to the Big Apple to attend events for the American Heart Association over the weekend. After the festivities, Hamlin watched James and the Lakers take on the up-and-coming Knicks.
The Lakers spoiled the Knicks’ party by snapping their nine-game winning streak in front of their home fans. James led the way with 24 points, five rebounds and five assists in the 113-105 victory.
Austin Reaves contributed 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Anthony Davis had a double-double with 12 points and 18 boards.
Despite the impressive win, the Lakers sit ninth in the Western Conference with a record of 26-25 almost halfway through the season.
