Social media sleuths have sparked wild theories about Miley Cyrus’ security detail following her red carpet walk at the Grammys.
The pop star (31) attended Sunday’s award ceremony with a security team behind. She walked into the event wearing a custom gold Maison Margiela metallic mesh dress, accompanied by an umbrella-wielding bodyguard and several handlers.
But social media users have now suggested that the Flowers singer’s escort was actually armed and had hidden his weapon in an umbrella or under a plastic limb.
YouTuber Matt Wallace, who shared footage of her red carpet walk on X and asked viewers to ‘pay attention’ to her bodyguard, argued the scene at the Grammys is not what it seems.
He claimed the umbrella was evidence Cyrus might be ‘in danger’ and suggested it was part of the bodyguard’s attempt to hide the fact he was holding a weapon in his jacket.
But other users hit back, claiming there was nothing unusual about the escort’s accessory and that he was probably wearing it because of ‘heavy rain’ in Los Angeles.

YouTuber Matt Wallace claimed her bodyguard was carrying a weapon. He said there was either a ‘hidden weapon, like a firearm, inside the umbrella’ or that ‘it’s a fake hand’. He said that technology used in prosthetics these days is ‘so good you can’t even tell anymore’
Footage of Cyrus’ red carpet walk has so far received more than 38.4 million views on X and more than 14,000 likes on TikTok.
A video Wallace posted on YouTube explaining his theory had been viewed nearly 18,000 times by Monday morning.
“Look at the bodyguard’s hand,” Wallace said in the video. ‘You can see the right hand is moving at a normal rate. The left hand is not.
“In the left hand there is an umbrella, but all is not as it seems.”
The YouTuber said there were ‘two possibilities’ because the accompanist’s left hand was ‘not moving at a normal rate’.

He said that “based on the fact that (the left hand) doesn’t swing at the same rate” as the right arm, it “looks like one of those two” cases.
The YouTuber added: ‘It’s very common.’
Several X-users echoed Wallace’s theories, claiming it was very clear that Cyrus’ bodyguard was trying to hide a weapon at the awards.

“I thought it was a gun to begin with,” tweeted @garyonthenet. “And upon closer inspection I see it’s a gun disguised as an umbrella.”
“His right arm is fake, his real right hand is holding a gun under his jacket,” @Melissa_suze wrote.
User @ninehalo369 added: ‘It’s not raining in California…It’s sis.’
“Very good observation,” said @Andreas00000000. ‘And the bodyguard does a very good job of hiding it. As well as possible, because I didn’t notice it at first.’
One user compared the umbrella to a weapon featured in the Kingsman films, which saw an umbrella being used as a ballistic shield and a makeshift grappling hook.
Another claimed that Cyrus’ security guard was ‘acting so secretive at the Grammys.’
But many other users branded Wallace a ‘conspiracy theorist’ and claimed there was nothing more to see than a bodyguard carrying an umbrella.

Hayden Clarkin, @the_transit_guy on X, added: ‘Being a conspiracy theorist at a boring time must be exhausting.’
Another user said: ‘I think the guy is just doing his job.’
