Eagle-eyed FIFA video game players spotted a star of the game’s hugely successful career mode appearing in a recent ITV drama, and social media erupted with reaction.

From being the prominent face of the virtual football series to starring in a new television series, Alex Hunter is a name most FIFA players will be used to hearing.

The fictional character was first introduced in the game’s career mode series as a hopeful trial player in FIFA 17, with users able to take control of the rising star’s life on and off the pitch.

He then appeared in the next two series of the game with the journey ending with him joining Real Madrid and winning the Champions League. Now fans of the game have seen him in ITV’s Trigger Point series.

The virtual character was played by actor Adetomiwa Edun who at the time of filming footage for the previous editions of the game worked with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Rio Ferdinand.

A final user added: ‘Sitting watching Trigger Point wondering where I saw the actor who played the Alex character, then realized that’s who Alex Hunter was based on in FIFA 17/18/19.’

The actor has also appeared in other films and television series, but caught the attention of football fans with his latest major television role.
