Tim Burton is set to direct a remake of the 1958 film Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, with Gillian Flynn writing the screenplay for the movie.
The filmmaker (65) is working on the remake of the film for Warner Bros. The Hollywood Reporter.
The director of films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and Edward Scissorhands will also produce the film alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, with Kai Dolbashian serving as an executive producer on the film, according to THR.
The Oscar-nominated director has been busy with projects in recent years, including the upcoming sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; the 2022 Netflix series Wednesday and the 2019 Disney movie Dumbo.
Previous work by Flynn, 52, includes the films Gone Girl and Widows and the TV projects Sharp Objects and Utopia.

She is expected to preside over the adaptation of her novel Dark Places as a limited series for HBO.
The original Attack of the 50 Foot Woman was directed by the late Nathan Juran and released in May 1958.
The logline for the movie read: “A wife (Allison Hayes, who has been turned into a giantess by an alien) finds her husband (William Hudson) in a bar with a floozy (Yvette Vickers).’
The film was previously remade in 1993 under the title Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman starring Daryl Hannah.
Christopher Guest directed the 1993 remake, which included a supporting cast of Daniel Baldwin, Frances Fisher, Cristi Conaway and the late Paul Benedict.
Burton’s previous experience remaking movies in the 1950s science fiction genre includes the 1996 film Mars Attacks! which starred Jack Nicholson, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Natalie Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker Danny DeVito and Michael J. Fox.
The movie, which arrived in theaters in December 1996, took in $101,381,197 worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
Burton has also presided over rebooted films, including 2001’s Planet of the Apes, 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and 2012’s Dark Shadows.

Burton, talk to The Independent said this past September that he “really enjoyed” working on the Beetlejuice sequel.
“I tried to strip everything down and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets,” Burton said. “It was kind of like going back to why I loved making movies.”
The sequel, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, brings back original stars from the 1988 film Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder, with Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci. It will hit theaters in September.
