The Wheel of Fortune contestant who viewers claimed was ‘robbed’ of a $40,000 win has revealed what really happened.
Megan Carvale, from Orange County, California, played in the show’s bonus round when she was asked to provide a two-word answer for the subject of ‘Living Thing’.
The high school choir director successfully guessed a series of letters missing from the puzzle board until she came across ‘P _ N _’ ‘_ RC_ _ D.’
She then began rhyming off potential answers in vain and missed out on the hefty prize pot despite fans arguing online they had indeed heard her give the correct answer of ‘pink orchid’.
Megan, who ended up walking away with $14,007, has since spoken out Good morning America to finally settle the dispute.

Megan was questioned on air about the situation by hosts Robin Roberts (63), George Stephanopoulos (62) and Michael Strahan (52).
She explained: “You know, I wish I had said ‘pink’ because I would have been $40,000 richer – but I said ‘something.’
Speaking about being thrust into the spotlight, the contestant said: ‘MeIt’s funny because I was so excited to be a part of it when I went on the show, and I was so bummed that I lost the bonus round.
“Even just looking back on it, I’m like, ‘okay, just gotta get through it – watch it once.’
‘And then I woke up yesterday – it’s all over the headlines and everyone’s talking about the bonus round and I’m reliving this loss.
‘But at least his positive attention. It could have been people making fun of me for not making it.’
The hosts praised Megan for being so honest about her loss before candidly revealing that her eight-year-old son was in the audience.
She said “all the way home” – which is more than an hour’s drive from the studio – he mourned the loss.
